Shadow Flowers
Shadow Flowers, led by Aaron Mills as sonic lynchpin, makes music built from hypnotic repetition and saturated melody. Rooted in shoegaze and grunge, the sound oscillates between Smashing Pumpkins-heft and the collapsed–reconstituted guitar languages of My Bloody Valentine and Einstürzende Neubauten, taking on an incendiary euphoria in live performance. Based in Hampshire, Mills formed Shadow Flowers with guitarist Adam Tremblay and drummer Matthew Schmigelsky, reuniting with bassist Patrick White after their shared history in Burning House. Shadow Flowers has collaborated with acclaimed visual artist Christy Lee Rogers, whose underwater, Renaissance-inspired photography has been used in exhibitions and installations paired with the project’s music. Her work frames the body in suspension and mythic register, situating Shadow Flowers within a broader artistic context that treats sound as a structural force alongside image, light, and space. The band’s upcoming release, Blood Book, was recorded with Ian Davenport, producer and mix engineer for Slowdive—a record where the occluded detail of Broadcast and Deerhunter makes itself known.
Kill Committee
Loud and real - post-punk grit and shoegaze blur dragged up and spewed forth. Industrial town and misery refracted through a Thames Valley lens, echo and delay smeared over motorik drive, fuzzed Berlin basslines grinding underneath. Sophisticated by mistake - elegant through lack of intent. These are songs about real life: real loss, real hope. Eyes open. Hands clasped. Not dystopia. Just truth at volume.
Livestock
The ashes of day-to-day
life – offices, allotments, the family home, deliveries – crushed
into a hard diamond and shot at you by a machine-powered antique
canon. Kev,
Nick and Sean from Head Drop have got a drum machine and written
some snappy, sometimes ridiculous, tunes. Now they want to make
that everyone’s problem.
Plus DJ until late.
